Clooney engagement reports denied

Actor George Clooney has denied reports that he is engaged to his girlfriend Sarah Larson.
According to People magazine, the 46-year-old Oscar-winner denied the rumours through his representative Stan Rosenfield, who said: "These reports are not true."
The rumours stemmed from a story on the Marie Claire website under the headline "George Clooney to Marry?".
The article claimed that a restaurant worker in the Italian town of Laglio, where Clooney has a villa, said: "They haven't made any announcement yet, but there are people in this town who know more than me. They say the couple are already engaged."

Gere's obscenity charges are suspended

India's Supreme Court has suspended legal proceedings against Hollywood star Richard Gere, who faced obscenity charges for publicly kissing Bollyood star Shilpa Shetty last year.
Gere caused controversy after he tilted Shetty backwards and kissed her repeatedly on the cheek at an anti-AIDS show in New Delhi.
Today Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan and Justice R V Raveendran stayed the arrest warrants against the 'Pretty Woman' star and granted permission for him to travel to and from India.
According to Reuters, the court also criticised the complainant for his "moral policing" and said "such complaints are publicity hunting. You are bringing a bad name to this country".
Similar charges against Shetty, who won the last series of 'Celebrity Big Brother', were suspended last year.

Christina Aguilera rocks the vote

Remember when Madonna, draped in the American flag, appeared in a vamping public service announcement for a nascent organization called Rock the Vote? Now, almost two decades later, Christina Aguilera is kicking off the new campaign for the group, but the one wearing the flag is her infant son, Max Liron Bratman.

In the new broadcast ad, set to debut later this summer, Aguilera sings a lullaby of "America the Beautiful" to her son, who was born in January. The Grammy winner said she didn't think twice about putting her son in the spot because it's "inevitable that he will be subjected to some amount of press," so it might as well be channeled into a good cause.

"This election in particular is such an exciting and historical one, and so I was proud to have my son and I stand together for such a powerful moment and message in time," the 27-year-old star said.

Rock the Vote turns 18 this year, appropriate considering its intensified efforts. Executive Director Heather Smith said more than 850,000 users had gotten registration forms from the website this year.
